Thank you for including primary-level information like: 2/3 pin swap and drum overhead phase. It's incredibly important to some of us to understand the relationship of our actions (errors) to our results. Even though most of your material is above my pay grade, I can always take away something useful.

Huh! Frequencydependent correlation and channelbalance analyzers? Had no idea such things even existed, but it makes total sense... Very good and geeky stuff Mr Shepherd - as always! :)

Wow....this video has opened my eyes to a lot of things. This will help me in my mixing process. Thnx Ian.

This is actually NOT my rough mix ;) I was originally sent this to master and I thought the guitar should be corrected so I actually ended up re-mixing the whole project.

Very informative video.
Thanks Ian. There is too many of recordings with stereo field / phase correlation issues out there that are not pleasant to listen.

Great video (as always).  I've been using Insight for quite a while, but I may have to investigate Visualizer.  Looks like there are some pretty seriously neat options in there...

Recently a couple of free plug-ins have become available that are useful regarding phase issues.
Voxengo's Correlometer is a multiband phase correleation meter (like Nugen's).
Melda Production's MFreeformPhase lets you rotate phase per FFT bin.

Roughly what phase correlation value is good for mastering for vinyl?

hi ian, isn't this the rotary effect of the guitar.when i push the rotary bottom on my rhodes (epiano) it gets phasey... ? perhaps the guitarplayer wanted this crunchy/floating sound...dont you have to ignore the correlation in this case?(just a suggestion)
thx for youre vids on Production Advice

Ha! I always wondered what the "correlator" thing at the top of the TT meter was...

Hey Ian great video !
could you explain what the difference between coherence and correlation is?
I don't really understand it...

Actually, in my headphones (Technics rp-dj1210) this sounds extremely wide. Like, all music, sounds and anything what I usually listen to is in kinda 3D tube, and that guitar was out of it. It's everytime like light flashes when I hear such too wide things in the mixes

any examples of completely out of phase signals that can make people feel sick? I thought that was a pretty interesting comment

I've loaded commercial MP3 tracks into my DAW, and found even they often go into the negative on the correlator.

Is it possible to reduce stereo width by running a mono channel in parallel?

Great video, Ian.
That guitar is really annoying to me, I wouldn't go as far as saying that it gets me sick, but it's definitely not pleasant. Your fix with the low-mids narrowing is maybe a bit less "creative", but much more enjoyable.
