I would say something that would really save your back would be a wand for the garden hose. They're good for reaching down into residential units and awesome on commercial package units because of the extended reach. Either the orbit max 36" rear trigger wand at lowes or the melnor r8639 relax grip 33" articulated head 8 pattern wand at home depot. Or any other brand would be fine, I think they all make a version of it. It's a back saver though. Another thing I think is cool, which you don't have to buy anything, is to use that adapter for your vaccum to suck the drain out for a funnel. Thats what I do. Just grab that and take it to the attic and connect to the clean out on the trap and pour your cleaner in. Makes an awesome funnel. I probably didn't make the 50 comment cutoff, but its worth a shot. Thanks for the videos Ted. Keep up the good work.

You always do a good job and I’ll be the first to say I don’t think anyone is gonna do anything differently than you did. You’re the man. Only think I would have use that I don’t think you had was a magnetic tray to keep screws in. Great brother.

Thermocamera so you can show the before and after of how that coil performs before the cleaning and after the cleaning. Makes it so much better to show the customer the actual difference and customers love it.

Ted, i recommend nu calgon's AC Drain Sucker for clearing condensate lines. It can be used as a positive pressure to blow out lines or negative pressure to suck out clogs. Its small, light affordable and easy to set up and use. It is clear and when used to suck out lines it dumps the contents right out so you can still see what you're getting out of the drain line.

I have a Ryobi 18v Ez clean 320psi cordless power cleaner that i like pretty well. Its powerful enough for coil cleaning but not so powerful that it will damage the coils. Also dont have to have a water hose near by as it will pull water from a bucket or even a jug attached to the cleaner if desired. I think you can also connect it to a garden hose and regular spigot as well. Has worked well for me and handy if there is not a spigot near by.

You could use “Fieldpiece STA2 in Duct Hot Wire Anemometer” to measure air flow and ensure you’re getting ideal airflow for the size of system and don’t have additional restriction or clogged evap coil. Using less restrictive air filters could potentially be masking the real problem.

1) Airflow meter - Fluke-922
or Anemometer: Rotating Vane and Thermistor, Mfr. Model AN100
to confirm airflow, and confirm if filters are causing any restriction.

2) use compressed air if you don't want to use/have water or chemicals
-DEWALT Portable Air Compressor . D55140

3 Condensate tablets - Nu-Calgon SKU: 4296-24
As a nice jester to clients.

Sorry wasn't clear which video to comment on, so i commented on both.
good luck to everyone.

Ted, I’ve watched your videos a lot and know you can make any repair with 3 basic tools so using something heavy or expensive doesn’t seem like a useful thing. But something cheap that has been super useful to me is the 7in 1 drill bit made by Klein. Has 7 sizes that fits every size residential and commercial from 1/4 inch all the way up to 9/16ths. Not sure if anyone has suggested it but it also fits on your 1/4 inch multi screw driver. Good for blower motor replacements, removing covers, getting hard to reach spots. And can be cleaned for new use

Good evening,
Because you are a Milwaukee man, I would suggest using a blower to remove moisture from the coils first before you turn on the unit after washing.
Flat Bend Nozzle for Milwaukee M18 Fuel Leaf Blower, Work for Milwaukee M18 2724-20 & 2724-21, Leaf Blower Nozzle for Drying, Blow-Drying, Purging Cars. Get your delta where it needs to be faster.

Hey Ted. Great content and great videos. I know I'm not one of the first 50, but I think a battery operated leaf blower would have helped. I personally have a Dewalt. I find it's easier to blow off the dry debris from the inside first. It makes a huge difference because all off the debris doesn't run down the coil and clump up. Makes it easier in the back end of the job.

I can't pretend to know a tool that would make your job easier - but I appreciate you giving away tools for the profession. I'm just a DIY (yes, I know this is the anti-DIY channel) guy, but I truly appreciate what you do sir! Hope you can give the tools away to someone just starting in the profession (so long as they commit to being as professional and honest as you are).

I’m just a wannabe HVAC hack, you know-you provided some interesting commentary when I asked you to check the work at my house😅. Make sure this stuff goes to a good home!

Ted, it’s hard to improve on a system that works so well but you may find some improvement in using the new and updated Milwaukee Fuel 0970-20 portable Packout shop vac. It has an updated brushless motor that is quieter and has more suction. You can also snap your most commonly used Packout organizer to the bottom so you have your AC “go to” tools, connectors, and etc. handy! -CL

Cowboy you are going to have to have this CJ-200E CoilJet Electric Portable HVAC coil spray cleaner runs off a standard 110-Volt outlet and carries all the water and coil cleaner you need to clean up to 5, 5-Ton units using 220 psi pressure at 0.5 GPM. The system has a water capacity of 3.375 Gal. and chemical capacity of 1.75 qt. Multiple tanks allow you to apply coil cleaner and then flush with fresh water, quickly cleaning coils without damage to sensitive fins, even micro-channel coils.

Choose between 3.375 Gal. water tank or use hose connector for continuous water supply to clean coils in hard to reach areas such as rooftop units, evaporators, condenser coils, and refrigeration coils
Powerful 220 psi spray cleans debris and grime without damaging fins
0.5 Gal. per minute flow rate won't overflow the indoor A/C evaporator coil condensate line
Low 1.5 Amp draw won't overload and trip circuit breakers
Includes: coilJet system, 2 standard spray nozzles, spray gun with quick disconnect. 15 ft. power cord, and shoulder strap

the thing I do is take a leaf blower and reverse blow the coil major debris off then back spray the coil with coil clean to be able to penetrate, then back wash with clear water.... I use, believe it or not, toilet bowl cleaner for the ptrap, letting it set for a min of 30 min, devolves all the deposits, sometimes an old tooth brush will help break it up too. good luck!

For the coil cleaning. The nu-calgon coil gun sprayer WITH the Nu-Calgon 4774-1 Coil Gun Probe. No more bending into the condensing unit.

And for the drain clear, the mighty pump is my favorite for clearing drain lines. No batteries needed.

A small propane touch to burn the condenser dirt while the condenser runs followed by washing. It helps speed up the washing process.
A small brush like the one that comes with the EZ trap. Use it break everything in the trap loose before you flush it with water and cleaner.

one tool you could get for those condensate lines is a plumber's tool.
RIDGID PowerClear 120-Volt Drain Cleaning Machine Kit for Tubs, Showers, and Sinks, Red, 55808
Effortlessly clears clogs in tubs, showers, or sinks with 3/4-in. to 1.5-in. drain lines and has a motor that delivers 450 RPMs
included 30-ft. heavy-duty inner core cable without touching while the clear cover allows you to easily view how much is left.
$250 new. weights 12 pounds.
alternatively you could go with any condensate pan treatment tablet or to compliment the condensate cleaning with the rigid tool. for example: Nucalgon Replacement Condensate Pan Scum Treatment Tablets, part number 4296-60

That fieldpiece gauge looks like a good choice!
