Recon Challenge coming out of the surf.
This year's Recon Challenge was a 25 mile endurance course where Recon Marines and Sailors completed challenging tasks along the way. They started with a 1000 meter open ocean swim pushing a 50 lbs ruck sack all in the dark at 0300 in the frigid waters. They also faced along this grueling course the obstacle course, steep hill climbs with 75 lbs ammo cans, amphibious challenges, buddy carries, weapons manipulations, and marksmanship. A total of 25 two man teams competed with each team wearing the name of a fallen Recon member on their pack.
