Which penalized officials who did not arrest someone allegedly escaping from slavery, and made them liable to a fine of $1, 000 (equivalent to $38, 620 today.

I think both Michael Knowles and Ben Shapiro address reparations. All I know is I have done my genealogy and there wasn’t a slave owner among them. My mother’s family didn’t even immigrant until after the civil war. The rest of my relatives were dirt poor struggling to survive.
