Shouldn't your thumb be NOT touch the end bit sticking out? I believe that's called 'Pavillia' and heard it causes cancer.

A microwave magnetron typically requires a voltage of around 3, 000 to 4, 000 volts to operate. It stores energy. Only 120 volts plug in but the magnetron must be discharged before you handle it. You need special gloves and tools. So if you don't know what you are doing, pay someone to fix it.
