I've edited videos out of an HDD for years until a couple of days ago, when I lost 13 hours of continuous editing work for a friend DJ, a set he'd pass at a virtual version of the Tomorrowland Festival. Now my X8 is on its way. It was the same price of a rugged Sandisk of the same capacity but write and reading speeds gained me over to go for this one. I've just bought the 2TB version on Amazon UK for £77.00. I know it's a few years old now but I'm not bothered about write speeds. All I wanted was a SSD external hard drive with a large storage capacity to back up my photo's and videos. I've had several HDD external drives fail on me over the past five years which haven't had a lot of use. All I've done is back up files on them a couple of times a month. Thankfully I always save my content on two external drives in case this happens. Hopefully this SSD will last a longer.

Hello, I know this video is a few years old, I just had a couple questions about the X2 2tb, will it work with older USB drivers besides 3.2? I need to use it with an older PC thats been updated to windows 10, so Im sure the USB is not 3, and the other question is how much space does any software that comes with the drive take up? The reason for the "one way" connector is you're connecting to USB-A - So they are routing for that, not USB-C

Wonder if u can possibly help - I have an Apple 27 ins iMac year 2014 which has a Thunderbolt 2 Port - I am looking for a USB-C to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter which does NOT rely upon the host supporting USB-C - I have a Crucial XT 8 External SSD Drive with a USB-C cable which I wish to connect to the Thunderbolt 2 Port to enable the available Crucial speeds up to 1050MB/s - If no such adapter exists are you aware of any SSD External drive[s] which can connect directly into the Thunderbolt 2 Port?

Here is my experience with the X6.

I bought the X6 4TB which cost me $569 CAD!!!! First time buyer of Crucial product. The one I received clocked about 35MB/s, more than 25 times slower than advertised. So ok, I have a defective unit.

I contacted Crucial and after a bit they agreed to send me a new one. Except, when it arrived, I had to pay for duties because they put the full value on the invoice, which cost me another $90. This was not what I experienced with returns from other companies over the years, where it is usually indicated that this is a replacement for a defective unit. So I called the company and was told it is "company policy".

So ok, another $90n bucks gone, but at least I have a new working unit; WRONG!!!! The new unit was the same as the old one. So after almost $700, I am stuck with something that belongs in the garbage. Nice work, Crucial. I have tried on several computers, Lenovo(i7, 7th generation) win10, Surface Pro 6 with i7 win10, and another win7 desktop.

So I downloaded the firmware thinking it could fix it. Both the online version and the iso version couldn't even find the X6 when it was connected. I don't know what to do now....

While copying large files from internal m.2 ssd to crucial x8 1 tb external ssd, the speeds go down from 400-500 mb/s to 30-40 mb/s after some time.. How do I fix it ? Is it a defective model ?

Many having slow speed issue in X8 1050 version. Mine is only going upto 700 & 600 (R&W)
