I’m still upset with Greg what he said about Drake on the second day of training camp with pads. He made it sound like it was the worst Draft pick ever. Then again, what do you expect from someone who never played football in their life.

Them “there aren’t any veteran Qbs available that knows the system”

Also them “Why haven’t they signed a veteran qb that knows the system”

Just complaining for no reason ….

I love how Mazz hates the patriots more than anyone Ive seen

Are these guys pretending to be mentally deficient or are they actually this obtuse? There is nothing inherently contradictory about preferring to have your rookie QB sit for a few weeks but be comfortable if he is forced to start. Like these are not mutually exclusive things. Boston sports talk is the bottom of the barrel.

I really don't get what's so hard to understand about Maye being the backup and playing if Jacoby gets hurt. If ideally he plays at week 5 then that doesn't mean you can't play him in case you need to.

Also, patriots definitely have the hardest first month of schedule in the NFL. I hope Jacoby lasts the first month but I do expect him to get hurt at some point with this line. Then we will see Drake take over and he will never lose the job.

The decision to start Brisset is probably so they can gage the level of talent on the roster. I think Mayo probably wanted to start Maye but the concensus was to start with Brisset. I get it but Brisset is average at best. The defense would have to win the games. Maye has the intangibles. He gives us the best chance to win. The roster is thin. Maye would have to carry us until guys emerge or until we start adding better talent. We don't have much margin for error. If Brisset starts off 0-3, 0-4 then our season is done. Luckily we start off with some winnable games. I wonder how much patience Mayo will have if Brisset plays bad.

I think this story is rocking the world of many opinions. There were Maye advocates who were adamant that he will be good after sitting a year who now have to explain their way into him being the backup. There were Maye haters who have to do the same. There were folks who were critical of Maye and said a veteran should be in front of him to ensure the future and now they have to do the same. Hell even people who called him a bust (morons) already have to accept this.

When everybody is on the same page it's a good time to question the team's decision, lol.

Hold him out until the oline is fixed.

If Jacoby gets hurt, signing a vet QB will be a lot easier vs signing them now to the practice squad. Maye will be backup during the current game, will sign vet the next Monday like Joe flacco did with AVP last year

If Drake Maye were Black, he would be starting just like the two quarterbacks picked ahead of him in the draft.
Welcome to your new New England Patriots..

It's actually pretty simple. They are okay with Maye starting if Brissette gets hurt because they don't have any other options. They didn't want to keep Zappe and lose another roster player. They weighed the options and at the moment, this was their best choice. It is not the optimal choice. They prefer that Brissette start and not get hurt. Sometimes you just can't make everything work out the way you want it to optimally work.

Maye should be starting end of story
Caleb, JD5, and Nix all are

How could they have predicted that they'd need a functioning offensive line ?

Dont worry about a backup. Flaco is sitting on the outside looking in.

Drake's good enough to start. Hopefully Jakoby last 3 or 4 weeks? 🙏

Man they need to play Maye and stop trying to be so smart. You learn football by playing football. Its crazy that the team is pretty much saying, "Jacoby just survive this season behind a bad line and help us lose every game so when maye takes over he can have a better team than you have". How about just play the better guy. Who says you cant get better while playing lol

Bedard is one of these so called " experts" who doesn't know crap . I liked Maye coming out and it's obvious he is the best QB on the roster.

Why the heck do they need another veteran QB THE STARTER IS A VETERAN QB what possibly would you do with an extra Veteran in this system put another guy in the lineup to start before Drake Maye why why why

“Case Keenum would have been a perfect guy but he’s on injured reserve.”

Let’s be thankful Bedard’s job is talking/writing about sports and not something important to society.
