I'm a 3rd generation Arizonan, spent all 13 years of school in the heart of Arizona. In all those years we were not taught anything about Arizonan history. The state's government just doesn't care; we learned about the civil war just about 50 times and not once was confederate Arizona even mentioned! Towards the end of my senior year I started reading about Arizona's history, my history in specific, the history of the pioneers. I'm so glad I know about my past and culture, and I absolutely love your quoting Jeremiah. I will certainly multiply in the land God placed me, and my children and their children and so on will be Arizonan.

I LOVE THIS TOPIC
as a conservative God fearing black women
i came from a broken liberal dysfunctional background
both sides of my family didn’t pass any traditions onto me :(
but GOD has fruitful things in store for me to learn
i may not dive into my ancestral roots BUT i will take the best practices and apply it to the climate I currently live in and GOD will teach me the rest 🥰❤️🙏

This is so important 🙏 Being fully German (and as far as I know my family has always been German or Prussian) history and the past is complicated for my family. What helped me is printing old family photos from both sides of my family, even those from the war(s). I'm proud to be German and I refuse to be ashamed of something that was long before my time. They fought in WW2 but they are *still* part of my family's history.

For black Americans this is such a struggle. We can't trace our recent history, but we can track our dna

I am 1/4 (irish/english)
1/2 Nigerian and 1/4 Indian (India not native american)

So I am 1/2 African 1/4 European 1/4 Indian (Asian)

Such an interesting thing to explore.

I'm an Orthodox Christian from America. Growing up in a Romanian parish, our priest encouraged us to marry Romanians and preserve our ethnicity. The church I attended did activities celebrating Romanian culture, history, traditions, food, and language. Romanian Orthodox Youth of America (ROYA) hosted 4 annual young adult camps, including the 1-month Heritage Trip to Romania. People from all over the US & Canada would attend. This was a unique opportunity to meet a Romanian spouse. Several people I know got married through ROYA. There were folks who had been in America for generations, but they were still Romanian. I thought only Orthodox people valued their heritage like this. It's encouraging to see Protestants adopting this Biblical mindset. If you can teach children your ways and help them find a spouse, then you can preserve your people group indefinitely. That's how so many nations avoided assimilation despite centuries of foreign occupation. It helps when families remain close and associate with like-minded families. If a dozen Romanian families live 15-minutes from the same church and participate in the same homeschooling co-op, then you can rest assured their children will not be assimilated.

Love this! I agree that we should study our history. I love history but sadly didn’t learn much of it until adulthood and I’m still pretty unknowledgeable. Recently I began learning more about Native American history and Scottish/Irish history because of my family line.
And meat and potatoes are great 😄 anything with potatoes is my favorite!
