Great that you can get all the parts for the Delco-Remy starter motor in the USA. You got it working perfect. Sometimes the other two pole pieces are used as well, most likely for a 12 Volts starter.

Great video. What did you rub all over the inside?

Hi. Love your content. Cant se if you cleaned the end surface of eatch part before assembly? Parts have to be clean of paint. This works as the earth connection. Some starters have a eath wire from the body to the end of the starter(near bushes) I prefer that. If the earth conection through the starter is bad, the bushings will wear out fast, or mayby course damage to the engine. Earth conection from crankhouse is important. It will make a big difference and give you higher speed.

Nice job, you did use the wrong brushes, , the original brush has an offset so they don’t ride so high on com. I did notice you put the com end on first, I do that so I can align brush on com. I have a starter shop and have repaired many old Delco starters and generators.

I hope that wasn't oil you rubbed all over the commutator.
