You can tell the journalist hasn't met many scientists when she said "(scientists) not known for their overexcitement about anything". Scientists and engineers are some of the most excitable, giddy people on earth when it's about their area of expertise. The amount of times I've seen felow scientists just brimming with joy, with a twinkle in their eye and a huge smile talking about an exciting discovery or theory... The understanding of the natural world is an incredibly joyful and inspiring experience.

Brian’s child like amazement with the universe and his overall humbleness makes him so incredibly likable. He probably doesn’t realize how much we all love him.

The more astronomy and science discovers, the more I feel that nothing much matters other than having a bit of fun.

My wife was really moved by the images. The mop of dark hair, the brown eyes, the baby face....

Always love Brian Cox's simple explanations for deep concepts such as space and time.

What is amazing is that those photons travelled for billions of years and ended up in my eyes on the other side of the universe.

We have so much more to learn about our own galaxy, it's as if we've hardly begun. There could be multiple intelligent species here. Then to look at that picture and see thousands of other galaxies... the possibilities are just mind-boggling.

How come it can send us all this information but my phone doesn’t work in some parts of my house?

When you do these videos and the speaking is quite quiet, like in this video, perhaps don't pump the volume up 1 million % when the closing music plays.

While small minds rule us we are all doomed to extinction

Some of us acknowledge that we all live in a fragile small pale blue dot, our rulers, while knowing that, still fight for geopolitics, economics, greed, my faith and moral is greater than yours, a small piece of land with an orwellian mind set.
As I viewed this images and WOW, I cried at the same time, never feared in 45 years as I do today for the end of our pale blue dot, either by a nuclear war or earth as the next Venus.

A thousand years from now, a distant planet will use a telescope to detect oxygen in our atmosphere and proclaim there is life elsewhere in the universe. Not realizing that life was destroyed here because one man wanted to invade another country for his own legacy which resulted in a nuclear winter...and the oxygen detected was a tiny remnant from centuries ago when life had existed here.

I don't know whats more creepy the realisation that we are indeed alone in the universe or the realisation that we are not is equally creepy!

6:15 - Everybody, who is not a total ignorant idiot, should be excited about this telescope! Aren't you excited about it?

They put it so far away, 1.5 million km, in a handy Lagrange point but it’s particularly difficult to repair/upgrade.
