How hard is it to weigh a three week old baby Aardvark? Winsol, the 3 week old baby aardvark is being closely watched by the zoo's care team as he spends most of his time with his mom Ali.

I was at the Bronx zoo a few years back, and my favorite animals by far were the aardvarks. They were jumping and digging around the enclosure, and throwing dirt all over the place. It's insane how fast these pig-rabbits can dig!

Fun fact: Aardvarks are not closely related to armadillos or pangolins. Their closest relatives are in fact elephants and manatees. The close resemblance between aardvarks, armadillos, and pangolins are just because of their similar adaptation to eating ants/termites.

Armadillos are more closely related to sloths and anteaters. Pangolins are more closely related to the mongoose and other carnivores.

I went to the Cincinnati Zoo a couple of years ago & the aardvarks there were in a very tiny space. There were 2 of them & they just kept pacing in a circle. It was heartbreaking.

When I worked in logistics, I started the branch weighing awkward items the intelligent way, instead of fumbling around as had been the case for apparent decades.
Many of the items we carried were of shapes and dimensions that made weighing 'normally' difficult and time-consuming.
So instead, I zeroed the scales with me standing on them, and then was able to register the weight with me holding the item.
(remembering to re-zero it after stepping off).
