One of the benefits is to leave the plug in the phone. That way you’re not constantly plugging it in and tearing up the port.
Also, turn the plug in the other way, 180 degrees, you have it in backwards if it’s not charging.

The head is supposed to stay in the phone. It so that you can quickly connect and disconnect. Also helps to keep you from scratching your phone.

It's not really made to be removed. The idea is to not having to replace the wire because of the constant unplugging or even damage your charging port. Sometimes you may grab your phone forgetting or not realizing it's still plugged in and with that it quickly disconnects unlike regular charging wire that could even make you drop your expensive phone. There are quite a few positives to the magnetic wire.
