How to reset Toner Cartridge Brother MFC-L3710 3730 3750

How to reset the toner counter of the Brother TN-223 TN-227 TN-243 TN-247, multifunction laser printers MFC-L3710 MFC-L3730 MFC-L3750 MFC-L3770 using the control panel.
- Activate subtitles in your language -

- Open the cover of the printer.
- Press "Cancel" and "Back" buttons simultaneously.
- Press "back" button.
- On the touchscreen, press the color of the toner you want to reset. Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, standard capacity or High capacity.
- Press "Yes".
- The display will show "Accepted".
- Close the cover. The counter is reset.

This video is a life saver. Thank you!!!! Here is the quick and dirty with a few additions of my own.
• Exit out of the current print job.
• Turn the printer off and on again.
• Open the cover and LEAVE IT OPEN
• Press "cancel" and "back" simultaneously (doesn't need to be a long press).
• Then press "back"
• Press color cartridge you want to reset. Then "yes." Do this for any add'l cartridges you want to reset, while you're already there.
• Close the top. You're done!

Worked after a couple of tries. Timing seems to be a factor in early success. As others note, leave unit open and press the button sequence quickly to gain the toner menu. Interestingly, mine showed both STD and HC cartridges for all four, even though I've only got STD as this is a relatively new unit. Thanks viandant5!

This Toner Count Reset Works!!
1. Made sure I was signed in on my PC and connected with the printer.
2. With printer already OFF, Press ON to power up the printer.
3. Raise access Lid on printer and KEEP OPEN.
4. Quickly press the “Back & Red X” keys simultaneously then release, then quickly press the “Back” key again. You should see the Toner Reset menu on the display now.
5. Press the color/yield of the type Toner you want reset then enter. You will hear printer recalibrating the settings until done.
6. Gently pull down access lid until locked in place. Manually monitor print quality until replacement actually “needs” to happen. I had to do this process several times before succeeding but it DOES work.

This instruction used on a Brother Laser MFC-L3770CDW on 13 May 2021. Brother products have always worked exceptionally well for me but they are too costly for me to replace before their actual complete 97-100% useful capacity is expired. Thank you to the creator of this Video.

This worked ! I had purchased some new cartridges for my 3770, couldn't get them to work, so the seller refunded my money and told me to throw away the cartridges. I put my old cartridges back in and tried this method and now the old cartridges work! I packaged up my new ones to try sometime in the future. Previously, I used to have a Brother Black-Only laser printer. Used it about 10 years. The trick to extend ink was to cover a particular hole with electrical tape. Always fun to try to get the printer to work the way is should, and not the way the manufacturer has planned to force you to buy more ink when you don't really need to! Thanks for the tip!

Just tried this and it works on my Brother DCP-L3550CDW .I needed to do the sequence a few tiimes and make sure you leave cover open while doing the reset. Absolute life saver!, thank you very much.

Just worked for me on an MFC-L3750CDW. The timing of the presses may be a factor as others note - in my case it seems I needed to do the presses not too long (~5s) after opening the unit, press and release the two buttons fairly quickly and simultaneously (rather than holding one and tapping the other), before doing the final press of Back. Not sure which of those factors is relevant for determining success though.

This worked! Game changer, thank you so much! Works with HL-L3270CDW as long as you don't have a firmware update reading 1.4 or more (this won't work then if you're just replacing with non-OEM cartridges).
