Fun fact: The counterpoint between violin and cello at rehearsal G (4:28) took dozens of permutations to get just right. I probably spent at least six solid hours on those 16 bars. So if you're having a tough time writing a piece - persevere!

Deeply inspiring. The time signature changes seem strange on paper but work perfectly well while listening. I'll have to steal some ideas from this :)

No worries, J.Jay. We can forgive all of that. :)) Truth be told, I probably wouldn't have noticed them if you hadn't said anything. Josh and I listened to this together. Wishing you could have heard our commentary the first time through it: "Another time signature change! Another key change!" Needless to say, we were quite impressed. It's a beautiful piece, bringing both of us joy on this dreary Monday morning. We clapped at the end. Loved Beethoven's quote. Be sure to send the link to Forrest if you haven't already. Keep playing and composing. You've been given a great gift. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.

6:22 never fails to give me chills, what a beautiful melody!

This was like listening to a Kaleidoscope. So many separate and brilliant ideas and yet they worked well together. I would say my enjoyment was more in the impressions that were given than any specific ideas communicated. It was to be experienced, not to be dissected and the experience was worth more than one listen. Very much enjoyed this. I was trying to think what it communicated cenimatically and what I came back to seemed at times like the panic moments of the climax of some epic drama as hero and heroin attempt to overcome the odds and rush together in some tragic romance. Very dramatic. Thank you for sharing.

Wonderful talent, imagination and counterpoint. The 12/8 section is a tour de force.

Wow, this is even better than Sylvan Odyssey (in my opinion)! Keep up the excellent work!

I don't know why, but I really like this fantasy, despite the average performance and recording. I've listened to it about 20 times.

Hey JJay I enjoyed that very much: plenty of energy, good imitation and interplay between the instruments. Time signature changes seemed natural and well thought through. Well done!

Incredible. I study music GCSE and you have helped me with so many compositions! I wonder if you would every make a series, "How to compose like..." and we could choose the composer. I would love to be able to compose in the style of J. Haydn for example.

All the same, you are an excellent all round musician and composer, I envy you.

This actually a very decent recording, especially as far as quintets go. Love the piano writing on show here!
