An absolutely bodacious video that shows exactly what the title says it does - Texas in 1880 and it just totally rocks out loud to say the very least. Everything about this video is simply incredible. This is best viewed in full screen mode due to most of these images being a very high resolution quality. Hope y'all enjoy this.

My great grandpa came from Germany to Alpine TX... Settled in an oil producing town in hill country.. then my Grandpa started a ranch with 240 bulls n cows in Lubbock... My uncles grow corn near Plainview.. My father is a football coach in Austin based high school.. And yeah my grandpa owned a Springfield 1903 and a colt .38 special. I dont know what makes us more Texan than this.

Heard Radney Foster sing this live at the Brauntex Theater, New Braunfels Tx in 2024. It stirs up every amazing emotion connected with the thrill of adventure and the pursuit of a dream. Standing ovation that would not end even after he walked off stage. By far the best performance I have ever been to.

I love the images of 1880's Texas. My husband's family and my family were here during that time. My dear great-grandmother was born in Iredell in 1880. Her dad worked for the railroad. Most of the rest of the family were farmers and ranchers. My husband's maternal great great grandfather founded Kerrville, Tx and his paternal grandfather ranched up on the Divide nw of Kerrville. My great great uncle founded Freer, TX. Lots of rich stories and photos have been passed down. Again, it's so great to see the images of the towns and countryside.

This song reminds me of my days as a long haul truck driver several years ago whenever I made runs out West. Now whenever I hear this song, it makes me wanna jump on my Harley and ride off into the sunset

A very finely done video, just top shelf, I'm a so cal rodeo competer of the last 25years , 5 buckles, as the song says "some day when your older someone will see that buckle hanging there on your belt, and ask you how it felt " that's the best line in the whole song, ,the whole song is awesome, this is dedicated to Stephanie " Ka-Neen" Escalara, my soulmate who was called up to heavens frontline last year on September 23, and arrived on the 27th to be fitted with her real wings, love and miss you, more than the world its self .keep watching over me, Jayne and the 3 c 's, ,your always in and on my heart, mind and soul, ,loving you endlessly, Jeffrey

Prefer the original song, not that you can tell much of a difference. But great job at the video for this, I love seeing all the old photographs!

When I was in Navy bootcamp in 2008, this song would constantly be in my head. Missing Texas, stuck in Chicago.

" I have said that Texas is a state of mine but I think it is more than that. It is a mystique closely approximating a religion.
And this is true to the extent where people either passionately love Texas or passionately hate it, and, as in other religions, few people dare to inspect it for fear of losing their bearings in mystery or paradox. But I think there will be little quarrel with my feeling that Texas is one thing. For all it's enormous range of space, climate and physical appearance, for all the internal squabbles, contentions and strivings, Texas has a tight cohesiveness, perhaps stronger than any other section of America.
Rich. poor, Panhandle, Gulf, city or country, Texas is the obsession, the proper study, and the passionate possession of all Texans."
- John Steinbeck, TRAVELS WITH CHARLEY; IN SEARCH OF AMERICA

Pat, I didn't know you sang this song with Radney Foster.I thought that it was a different man.I haven't heard that song since I was very young. 10 years old to be exact. Then I heard Just call me lonesome when I was about 11.
