Great tip! I did all my markers (10) that I use at work and found that higher the alcohol the 90% isopropyl worked better than the 75% commonly used.

I go through Sharpies and Magnums left, right, and center, so I'm sure going to try this! Thanks!

I use 99% isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol as a universal cleaner/solvent for many things, and suggest that you try this for reviving those markers. One pint (16 oz.) bottle will last from 6 months to a year, and you will find that it is much more effective than the diluted product commonly sold in pharmacies and supermarkets. Friends tell me that the larger pharmacies may carry 99 % isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, if you look hard enough, but rather than wasting that time and money, I order mine online and find that it is much cheaper to buy in quantity. Last order I got 12 pint bottles with free 2nd day delivery for $25.99, plus sales tax. With the smaller, pint bottles, there is less risk of cross contamination and the factory-sealed bottles stay good for many, many years.

Great tip. It is so irritating that every time I grab a felt tip marker it is dried out. Thanks for sharing.

Have you ever considered squirting inkjet refill ink into your markers? Would be interesting to see if you get a satisfactory result.
