Regarding the second baby penguin, it being "its own penguin" could just mean it's an adult of a smaller species. Let's not forget the mother penguin is far larger than any real-world penguin.

Peach owning multiple castles makes sense considering the layout inside is vastly different in every game. One could argue that each game takes place in a physically different castle at different spots in the Mushroom Kingdom

This isn't unrealistic. In RL, royals often have a complex used for ceremonial purposes and one they live in year round. Russia's Winter Palace is a famous example of one used for actual residency.

so then when mario (or in the DS version mario and co) head to princess peach's castle, he heads to the one without the furnace, even though peach says she baked a cake, and doesnt specify what castle to go to. there is only 2 options: 1. mario went to the other castle and found she wasnt there, then headed to the castle in the game, without worrying about peach at all. or 2. he went straight to the art castle, because peach is so obsessed with art that she spends all her time there, only going back to sleep and to bake cakes.
