Originally recorded in May 2020, the talk reviews basic epidemiology about Coronavirus infection and then focuses upon the ocular manifestations. She notes that ACE-2 receptors are extensively noted in eye tissue, including the human retina, retinal pigment, and conjunctiva. She next describes the epidemiology of Coronavirus conjunctivitis. Dr. Hernandez then discusses the potential for transmission of COVID-19 through tears. After reviewing the outcomes and prognosis of Coronavirus eye disease, she closes by discussing a couple of helpful case studies.

Went to eye doctor and a couple weeks later got covid. I had eye pressure test also and I am not sure if there was a protective covering over the equipment. The symptoms were more like the flu with 2 exceptions: painful eyes first and then a very painful rash broke out in ear and throat after using a ear drop with ingredient neomycin. I dont know if the rash was from the ear drops or the covid. The pain from the rash in my esophagus was the strangest pain I ever had. It felt like somone hit me in the esophagus. Only ice cream relieved it for a while. Doctors are not aware of eye problems in my state. Doc Gave prednisone and zyrtec eye drops. Worked better for a while then relapses. Lastly Blood vessel swollen on top of eye and blurred vision left eye . Not one eye doctor knows what it is. Extreme both eyes still burning. Left one worse with pain. Our doctors in Mississippi must no nothing about covid and the eyes .... All they think about is the lungs.
