Rusty Tree Altered Book Art Journal Tutorial

A new page in this Altered Book Art Journal. I was inspired by a couple of rusty tree sculptures I have in my garden and set out to replicate the colours and textures of rusty metal!

In this page I used:
Acrylic paints (various colours from Artiste and Pebeo brand from the local craft shop and Distress paints in Salvaged Patina and Antique Bronze)
Vaseline from the pharmacy
Babywipes
Modelling Paste (Windsor & Newton)
Distress Ink (ground espresso)
Versamark embossing ink
White embossing powder

I hope this inspires you to get creating!

I love your work! Can I ask how you prepare your book? Do you remove pages or glue pages together before using it as an art journal?

After waking up from a coma things don’t work well. But I have 1930’s Audubon bird books and I know what to use them for. Thank you
