'83 is the best year for these OM617.952 300D Turbos. I've had several diesel W123's and the one (of two) I still have is my '83 white on palomino. The lack of complexity (like the '84-'85 models) on the vacuum system that takes care of shifting, locks, AC vents, on/off makes it the best year to have IMHO. Compared to my '77 300D NA (which has no vacuum transmission control) the '83 gives you just the right amount of control.
