Saying lowcode (or nocode) tools are replacing developers is like saying microwaves and air fryers are replacing chefs. At the end of the day, not everyone wants to cook. Same goes to coding.

We use n8n at my job, and it definitely doesn't replace me. Essentially, it's still coding, you still need to think programatically and logically. It's just faster to use for simpler tasks, and it allows me to focus on more complex problems that need higher levels of abstraction, performance and etc.

My main concern for nocode tools is who else is looking at this data? Sure they make life a little easier but your data is potentially being shared with the world. Not that my personal data is that big of a deal. I, as a rule, and pretty boring. But as a developer, have to look out for my clients . The only way I can ensure their privacy and confidentiality is to make sure that their data only goes where they and I know it is going. Sometimes that means I write my own API or I emulate something that is already written, but the source code is so obfuscated that I cannot be sure it is not being sent to third parties that aren't authorized. Maybe I'm being paranoid? But when data is king today and the fact that you can be complicit in a crime without even knowing the perpetrator. Just a little extra time in coding it not only teaches you how to do it but keeps you and your customer safe. I will do it myself. Maybe there are vulnerabilities in my code. Maybe. But at least I will have piece of mind knowing I didn't intentionally share it with entities who do.

As a developer I am very happy as weird clients would use no code site builders, screw something up and then come to me and I'll charge a big fat fee for it

Heres how to automate cooking:
Make an app that have your fav foods list and make it clickable, when you click on something it opens a online food app then orders stuff and fills stuff automaticly and now your only job is to simply go outside, pay, and eat

Also they all cost money and require you to tie yourself to a very particular ecosystem, often owned by a single company. In this way it's not very accessible.

In my company they started using OutSystems. While it does all of the heavy lifting for you, it is boring.

A new developer that starts only with low code, will learn absolutely nothing… other than be a professional clicker.

I sold a project made with power automate and power apps, it generates a pdf with items from sap, creates a qr code, then the app part scans the qr code, takes photo and uploads it into SharePoint based on the qr code, i'm making it in javascript and kotlin now since I want to see if its faster, since pa and power apps are a little slow sometimes
