Due to the current Covid-19 outbreak and students missing a large time out of school, the Travelling Teacher, James Simmonds, has produced this geography video that can be used by all students and teachers across the country who may have missed the opportunity to complete their GCSE fieldwork.

This video is on GEOGRAPHY FIELDWORK, a COASTAL case study.

For teachers who are wishing to use this video with their geography students you may consider the following strategies once you have uploaded the YouTube link onto Show My Home Work (or alternative homework platform that you use).
1. Identify the core knowledge from this topic.
2. Answer the following exam questions.
1. What is our enquiry question? (1 mark)
2. Identify three potential risks which would need to be considered within a coastal Risk Assessment (3 marks)
3. Suggest potential solutions to these three risks (3 marks)
4. Identify the type of data which should be collected before the day of the fieldwork visit? Provide two examples of this data (2 marks)
5. Identify the type of data should be collected on the day of the visit (2 marks)
6. Provide two examples of quantitative data collection methods (2 marks)
7. Provide three examples of qualitative data collection methods (3 marks)
8. Using the Methodology section of the video, describe in detail, the actions taken to collect quantitative data (6 marks)
9. Using the methodology section of the video, describe in detail, the actions taken to collect qualitative data collection methods (6 marks)
10. Identify four data presentation methods (4 marks)
11. What three questions need to be considered when presenting your data?
12. Describe the benefits of using the method ‘annotated photographs’ in the data presentation section (2marks)
13. Identify the purpose of using GIS (1 mark)
14. Explain how to achieve full marks on the analysis section (what are the key 5 points…)
15. Provide three data statistical techniques which should be used in the analysis section (3 marks)
16. Explain how to achieve full marks in the conclusion section (5 marks)
17. Explain how to achieve full marks in the Evaluation section (6 marks)
18. From 15.02 to 15.34 of the video, study the footage to explain how the wooden groynes are preventing Long Shore Drift (6 marks)
