Anuv Jain - Alag Aasmaan (Acoustic)

"Alag Aasmaan" is a song that I released back in August 2020 and since then this independent release has received more than 20 million streams across all platforms. An acoustic version of the song is my way of thanking each and every person who helped me cross this number.

This stripped down, guitar only version of the song was recorded 100% LIVE with me singing the entire song in one go while playing the guitar. Having no cuts gives this version the raw feeling that I was looking for. It almost turns this into a brand new single (hah).

This is exactly how I've been singing this song at all my shows and it'll give the listeners, who haven't gotten the opportunity to hear me live yet, an insight into what it sounds like standing in the crowd.

For many of you this song might remind you of your lover, crush or any romantic relationship. In my case it’s completely different, for me Alag Aasman is a coping mechanism when I’m stressing out life in the worst way possible. It reminds me that I’m enough for myself, I can love myself no matter how worse the situation gets. Ever tried listening to the song from a different perspective? As if it’s a conversation between you and your heart?

The part ”Nayi Nahi hai yeh baatein wahi, Phir iss mor par hum Milein hai” seems like my cheerful self and I’m trying to hold ourselves up, consoling us that it’s nothing new, we’ve been depressed earlier and overcame it.

Here it makes you feel that you’re not alone! You’ve yourself and making yourself understand that no matter how far you dive into the pool of sadness and guilt, you know who you are. You will always come back to yourself “Main hi toh dil ka musafir”. Look in the mirror in your eyes and smile! This will remind you of how far you have come and how beautiful your life was. It’s just a bad phase, not a bad life. You release all your anxiety and try to make your heart lighter again.

This part teaches you that you’re growing, you’re getting better. You tell yourself to look into things differently cause the world is not how you see it, you have to accept that reality is different. When you see the hills from your window they look so small you only understand how big it is when you look into it closely. You have to grow and change your perspective on how you see life, I know it can be hard sometimes but it’s important. Another thing this song teaches you is acceptance in the most sweetest way. That’s why it’s part is my favourite.

We are always reluctant to situations that are not in our favour. It hurts us, scares us but we have to have faith in ourself and our God. Why should you be scared when you have come this far? You have yourself, rely on yourself cause “Main hoon yahin par”. Finally this song closes with an important note that you’ll meet yourself again when you’re confused and tired of being hurt but you’ll never change or lose yourself. We might think that we lost ourselves a lot of time but it’s just an illusion, you can lose everything and everyone but not yourself.
