2023 Mercedes AMG SL63 review by The Straight Pipes. The Mercedes SL63 AMG is putting down 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque from a Twin Turbo 4L V8. At $226,500 CAD, would you take it over the Lexus LC500 Convertible, BMW M8 Cabriolet, used AMG GT Roadster?

Good that they kept the V8 for this unlike the C63 lol

I'm beyond disappointed that this isn't a hard top anymore. It's a huge mis-step on Mercedes part, imo. Should have had the soft top as an option, because no matter how good the noise isolation is, it'll never be as good as it would be with a hardtop. Super glad they added AWD though!

I don't know why this car brings up some special emotions to me. The first time i saw it at a national auto show, my legs went weak. The hood is so long and the front end has so much character, it's a striking design. Now i know that this beauty is also a beast on the road. Definitely my new dream car.

Finally a proper gauge cluster in a mercedes. It's been so many years

The AMG-GT was a rare, powerful and sometimes scary junior supercar. I have a 2018 roadster and got a chance to see the new SL side by side. The SL just dosent have the same width, presence and special look that the older Gt had.

Love seeing this a week after I get my SL63. The screen I will say does take a lot of getting used to, especially waiting for the drop top part of it to get ready to activate. But, the performance is incredible, and I've had multiple people engage in conversation with me at red lights for compliments (a bit weird but fun).

All those capacitive function buttons are ridiculous (in every car ofc), especially when a 1 bigger "molded" piece of plastic covers 2-5 fuction buttons, you'd press one, and the whole plastic moves with the other fuctions as well. So darn cheap

I absolutely LOVE your hilarious reviews. Too darn funny... and somehow still filled with good info. Well done again, guys.

15:58 wow that’s unacceptable for a 200k car

These cars are magical to drive. Having driven one of the older gens, with a similarly lovely V8, I still have fond memories of the day I had with her.

That huge body wafting and wave of torque is a feeling like no other.

Glad to see a new generation of petrol heads, I recently acquired a new SL63 and I love it. My dad owned a 450 SL so getting a 63 is a dream come true.

I'd take the LC500 and save $100k... looks so much better too.

I love it. Only thing that sucks is the price and no hardtop option

Seen this car twice irl and it looks amazing. Superb road presence. Would still get the 911 if I can afford one.

SL63 is a perfect all around sports car. Right up there with 911 turbo.

This is the car you buy when you’re a 55 year old heart surgeon.

I'd take the GTC or any of the GT versions over this. But at least the looks are way better, the outgoing model were a disservice to the SL legacy. Yes old SL 500 R129 would be the dream SL. I did get to drive the 1976 SL 450 my uncle had for a long time before it was sold recently. Grew up being driven in the car by my cousins.
