How to Crochet Sea Stars--Five Sizes

In which I teach you how to make a sea star applique. I've made 5 different sizes, so you can use these for a variety of projects.

For those of you that are just interested in one size, here they are in order:
Size 1 (3/4 inch wide) starts at 0:46
Size 2 (1 3/4 inch wide) starts at 3:41
Size 3 (2 1/4 inch wide) starts at 5:53
Size 4 (3 1/4 inch wide) starts at 8:25
Size 5 (4 inch wide) starts at 11:42

Is there a way to do these with out the magic circle? For some reason I just cannot do the magic circle I just cannot get it I have tried and tried and tried and no luck for years and years I practice at least 2 to 3 times a week for the last 2 to 3 years and nothing I get confused every time. Grrrr frustrating that much I can say.
