Feds Warn Peter Navarro To Stop Lying About His Arrest
Показать описание
Former Trump trade advisor Peter Navarro has been making a lot of claims since his arrest last week, and now federal prosecutors are warning him that he'd better cut out the lies. They filed a motion in court on Thursday arguing that the many false statements that he's made about his arrest should be grounds for NOT granted his request to have his case delayed. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Former Trump trade advisor. Peter Navarro has been in the media a lot since his arrest last Friday. And, uh, according to a court filing this past Thursday by prosecutors, in the case, he won't stop lying about his arrest and what has happened since then. And the reason they even had to file this in court saying that he'd better stop lying or else is because he is trying to get a continuation and extension on his case, right? He doesn't want to have to immediately go to trial. He doesn't wanna start hearings and start discovery and all of that. Oh no, no, no. He wants to push this way down the road because of how he was treated while he was arrested. And it turns out according to prosecutors, according to the agents that arrested him, he was treated perfectly normal. There was nothing out of the ordinary with what happened to him.
And so they filed this motion in court saying, do not grant his wishes here, do not give him this extension because he will not stop lying about what happened. So here it is, he had claimed he was denied food, water, and a call to a lawyer, all claims that have been debunked by the people that arrested him. And of course the prosecutors in their case, they asked him at the time, do you wanna call a lawyer? But you know what? He told them. He said, no, I don't wanna call a lawyer. I'm supposed to go on TV later. I need to call the producers and let 'em know. I'm not gonna be able to make it. So he didn't wanna call a lawyer. His immediate instinct was, oh my God, I'm supposed to go on TV. I can't do that from jail. I let me let them know.
Now I will say I do appreciate that as somebody that has produced multiple different TV shows, it's always, you know, frustrating. If a guest just doesn't show up and doesn't communicate. But, uh, if I were the person that was arrested and I was supposed to go on a show later that day, I would probably prioritize calling a lawyer. But of course, Navarro said he was gonna represent himself. He said it publicly. He made that very clear. And now he's whining that I didn't get to call a, a, a lawyer now a, I don't even have a lawyer, cuz you said you didn't want one. You told everybody, you told the world, you don't want a lawyer cuz you didn't wanna spend your retirement on it. And now you're going on conservative media, begging them to send you money by buying your book so that you can afford it.
And you don't have to dip into your own retirement savings, right? I mean, how horrible is that? You allegedly break the law and we say allegedly, cuz he hasn't been convicted. And then if you're expected to spend your own money on it, oh hell no. What's wrong with this system of justice here in the United States, right? I hope he doesn't get his extension. If what these prosecutors are alleging, if what the arresting officers are alleging. And that, that is that he has just been lying is face off ever since he was arrested, then he doesn't deserve it. You made your bed, Peter Navarro, you made all these false claims and you are going to have to live with the consequences of that. Just like you have to live with the consequences of defying those subpoenas. Because for some reason you just thought you could.
