Tool Combinations: Leatherman Skeletool with Victorinox Compact (Perfect Companions)

No perfect multitool currently exists as everyone's needs are different and even change over time. There are many tools that can come close but invariably fall short in a few areas causing a compromise. The answer to this is choosing a paring of tools that compliment the shortfalls of the other to suit your needs.

The Skeletool is a simple tool with "everything you need and nothing you don't." It does a great job as a pocket knife, plier and screwdriver.

Just the Skeletool on it's own, works for me, any other problems, and it's out with the tool box, , I think the cutters on the Skeletool pliers are pretty poor, but they get you out of a scrape, which the tool is designed for, ,

What is your updated opinion on this combo?
Two years after this video was posted and after countless combinations, I have decided this is the best for me. I prioritize thinner edc tools so they don't make my pockets bulge out. The Skeletool and Compact really nail everything I need while staying relatively light and slim. With the Skeletool, I also don't need to carry a dedicated knife if I want to keep things minimal.
Have you found a better combo since? Cheers!

As an engineer myself I carry a wave and Vic compact. I find the skeletool inadequate for many of my day to day tasks.

The leatherman skeletool and the victorinox pioneer x, is also a great combo. The pioneer x, has awesome scissors, a bad ass all purpose inline awl, a nice beefy blade, can opener /screwdriver, a beefed up regular screwdriver/bottle opener, that can handle some serious prying type stuff, bad ass aluminum handles . If I wanna go light, sometimes it's all I carry. The only thing I really miss is pliers.

Could you take out the blade of the skeletool and make it fit and replace the knife in the Compact??
