Micro RC Remote Controller 2.4GHz and IR (Arduino based)

preview_player
Показать описание
This the prototype of my new free open source Arduino RC controller project. Features:
- 2.4GHz radio mode (10 vehicle addresses selectable)
- Lego Powerfunctions IR mode for "blue" and "red" motor (4 channels à 2 motors selectable)
- Arduino Pro Mini 3.3V / 8MHz Microcontroller
- DRV8833 Motor driver in the car
- NRF24L01 2.4GHz radio modules
- 4 analog channels for standard RC servos
- 4 digital channels (2 buttons & 2 joystick buttons)

Parts links:

Some links above are affiliate links. You can support the channel, if you use them. There are no additional costs for you. Thanks, guys!

Suitable for:
- Coke Can Cars
- cheap RC cars without steering servo
- self balancing robots
- big RC cars with ESC and steering servo

I also use this system in a JLB Racing Cheetah, which is super fast and runs about 80 km/h !

After more than a year of further development, this system can now do a lot more:
- Proper PCB from OSH Park (board files on my GitHub)
- MRSC (Micro RC Stability Control). This system uses an MPU-6050 gyro / accelerometer in the car. Very useful on gravel and for smooth drifts
- OLED screen shows transmitter and receiver data
- CNC milled housing
- 2 channel „Car Style“ version
- Infrared support for MECCANO vehicles
- Running on an Atmel AVR Atmega 328P CPU, 8 an 16MHz supported
- Atari PONG game included
- Transmitter tester with graphical feedback on the OLED

this is amazing...
the level of what you have achieved from something 8-bit!
Bravo! I'll Try to build one too...
P.S. : This is like 5 years later. 2021.

Yes, this is no problem. Just define an array of pipe addresses. Even much more than 5 is possible. They have to be unique for each vehicle and identical on the transmitter and receiver side. Details see in the Arduino code on my github account.

As I said already in comments for others videos of this Author - this looks so great project for DIY RC enthusiasts - there are even PDF schematics for all connections for transmitter and receiver (in many cases, Arduino-related projects says: "look all connections according to INO file"). My appreciations to Author for this well-thought-out project sharing.

Please make a complete tutorial for how to make a transmitter and receiver using arduino and nrf24l01

You need to add two buttons (wired between GND and the input pins in accordance with the Arduino sketch). One of them changes the vehicle number and the other switches between radio and IR mode.

Hello. I'm trying to flash the transmitter, but when compiling the sketch, it gives an error: "Error compiling the Arduino Pro or Pro Mini board." please tell me how to fix it. The libraries are all installed, the Arduino Pro Micro is in programmer mode, recording via the programmer. I tried to change the version of the Arduino IDE. The result is the same: A compilation error for the Arduino Pro or Pro Mini board.

No way I can make this myself but I can make a wooden plane that should be able to use this. this needs to be researched further. nice hobby for when I'm old.

For the Arduino Pro Mini, instead of just having 2 buttons, would it be possible for me to hook up 4 buttons? Like the buttons will be used for like kill switches for the rc and attachments to it?

Hello, very nice controller! i was wondering if it was possible to use a different 2.4ghz transmitter, like one of the ones found on hobbyking? or would that require a different program also? thank you

Great project. Do you have a bill of materials or parts list for the project? I'm having boards made and want to order parts for your transmitter and receiver. I want to make sure I get the right joysticks and switches. Thanks!
