You make me smile as you tell it like it is but still so many kind and friendly people in Ecuador. There are many reasons you put up with their system in spite of all the third world challenges because you love the country and adapt as best you can. You tell us the bad while sitting on your Ecuador cedula. You come home to Cleveland or out to Montana but keep going back. Enjoy the variety, keep that sharp eye for opportunities, and live a happy life. A lot of people could not adapt like you do and are stuck with limits. Have a happy Thanksgiving later this month and reflect on how Ecuador and your other world travels make you stronger and broaden your horizons.

I mean quite a few of the things on this list happen in the US lol. My old neighber sent up a sand blasting area and covered a whole half acre of my land and a creek with sand. cops said "Well he has a permit, so we cant do anything" and left.... And dont even get me started with stray bullets landing on the property, thats one thing i dont have to worry about here in Ecuador (Yet) lol

Absolutely hilarious! But also very true that you have to accept the challenges that a developing country poses while enjoying the lower cost of living and greater personal freedom.

As I’m listening I couldn’t help thinking that a lot of these things sound like the U.S.

Wow, Ecuador sounds like hell on Earth! But you like it, so it can't be all bad.

Not much of a middle class left in the USA.

I have been living here for 10 years and I truly find it a love hate relationship with the place, had I not married a beautiful Ecuadorian woman I probably wouldn't stay. I've had to put up with a lot of crap here with building a house and owning a vehicle etc.

Sounds like you would be better off in your new property in Spain.

Domestic Violence is not a first or 3rd..it's the same all over the world. It crosses culture and classes. Other than that, you were pretty good with your concerns about Ecuador and where it can improve. The great thing about Ecuador is that it CAN improve whereas the USA is declining, as is Europe etc.

The rooster thing is hilarious. I remember walking around the Guayaquil bus terminal and hearing someone's rooster crowing loudly 😂 I would also add: totally inadequate public transit systems to handle the volume of passengers...

Practically everything you described is alive and well in the good ol' USA.

I'm about to buy a used motorcycle in Cuenca and now I'm wondering how many miles the owner took off😂😅

All true, but railroads are just about cost. There were railroads in Ecuador, but at some point transport by road became more cost effective. You'd probably need the tax structure of Europe to change that.

This is an excellent description of Ecuador, but not all third world countries are like Ecuador. Asian and African countries can be third world as well but you won't find much crime and violence in all countries.

I've never been to Ecuador, but have been to Peru. From watching this video and the current upsurge in violence in Guayaquil, I've crossed Ecuador off of my list and am retiring to Argentina. I've been to Argentina twice and liked it. However, the state of chaos in very day Argentine life is not to my liking. I guess no country is perfect.

Poor my Ecuador jajajaja everyone complains about it haha it is true certain things, we must improve as a society, unfortunately we have a mafia of corrupt Lebanese who are within politics and business, now we have the Venezuelan and Colombian Diaspora, but we have in favor a beautiful country in its nature and gastronomy, tourism etc.
