Kia Ceed 1.6 crdi 2009 turbo whine

Показать описание
Kia Ceed 1.6 crdi from 2009 has a rather loud turbo whine between 1000-2000 RPM. The whine is present even after the 2000 RPM, however it is being trumped by the overall engine noise. There’s no power loss, if so, then very small. There are no upgrades, all is factory-like and all the piping is intact.

I will make second video from the engine area soon and follow up videos on fixes, when they’ll be found.

If you have an idea, feel free to share it in the comments.

normal for an original turbo with 247000 kms ! the hot part of the turbo is covered with carbon soot, restricting the air flow a little, eventually hardening the variable geometry to move, hence the noise.

I HAD THE SAME! It was exhaust pipe touching heat protector under the car - check it. Whole exhaust should hang on rubber parts, not touching any solid parts. Thats why elastic exhaust coupler is neccessary. In my car exhaust pipe touched heat screen in front part of car. Finding this took me about 6 months !!!

I have 2008 Kia Ceed 1.6 Crdi and I have the same sound at the same rpm range. I think it is normal but I will check it too with mechanic...

My 2007 Hyundai i30 1.6 crdi had the same sound, my turbo was replaced and the sound went away. Sadly, it seems that it has returned after 1500 km. Must be a 1.6 crdi thing.

I have the same car as you and also I have the same whine sound that you are facing with. I live in Turkey and have no reliable specialist about my car. How could you fix your problem? If you help me about this, I will really grateful to you.
