Having only discovered Fazil recently I stand in awe of his talent. What is different about his playing? you can hear a deep understanding of the music that only a composer would have. I feel like I am listening to a great composer (which he is) interpret an equal's music. Such continuity of line, his phrasing and rhythm are impeccable and sublime. He is able to do what very few I've ever heard be able to accomplish. Transcendence. Before hearing this interpretation I didn't know what I was missing, after hearing it I feel like everything else (including the 1955 Glenn Gould) is less than.

My first purchase among Fazil Say’s albums was his Bach Album and instantly fell in love how he played the Italian Concerto there.. He’s the best Bach performer I have ever listened ( yes… including Gould, sorry 🤷🏻‍♂️😊)

Un jeu absolument extraordinaire : l'oeuvre est "réinventée" tout en restant au plus proche de l'esprit de Bach, et de celui du clavecin, avec les moyens du piano (une prouesse).
Mais...quelque chose - quoique accessoire - me choque : Fazil Say s'est-il grimé ? Il me semble que ses cheveux et ses sourcils, d'un noir de geai, ont été noircis au maximum...
Sa peau ressort très blanche...Où est passé notre Fazil Say, qui était si naturel ?
