I'm heading to Japan in October for an 11-day stay; all in all (since I'm from Latin America), including airfare, insurance, hotel stays, JR pass and general transportation, and what we (assume) will spend if we can hold our geek instincts back, is in the vicinity of $4.9k. We're staying at 3 star hotels and airbnb and are planning to use public transportation as much as possible to save a bit. Good walking boots will definitely be a must xD.

Also, from what I've learned, private transportation can get expensive very quickly in Japan, so it should only be considered as a last resort.

Helpful as to airfare, taxis, and hotels in Japan, but if one is not into shopping, then you could have made the trip for half your total. Enjoyed the video. You are good at these presentations.

I am going in late March to early April of 2024. With this being my once-in-a-lifetime trip so I wanted to go during the cherry blossom season. I have saved about $16, 600 for me and my cousin to go and I hope it will be enough. 😭
