Dear Apple -
We've had some great times together these last 35 years, but we've grown apart. I've decided...to see other laptops.

Under the Big Tree is Nick Peck's YouTube channel, focused on music and sound design equipment and techniques, composition, production and performance of music, modular synthesizers and electronic music in general, and tabletop board games.

I felt the same way back in 2016, when I started a personal project I called "Apple No More". Was a experiment to try and do all my work stuff (IT engineering and music/video) only on Windows. And it worked great! I used Apple products from more than 13 years, but for the same reasons explained on this video I had to get out of that. Nowadays I'm working on Linux (Arch and Debian) for most of my work, except audio (I mean I have Reaper running perfect on Linux, but my VSTs are the thing keeping me on Windows so far) even games run excellent on Linux. Thanks for sharing this, found your channel recently and I love the content!

Dear apple.

I can fix a windows PC. Without being sued for counterfeiting an apple product. I can remove a hard drive without a soldering iron. The memory modules are not welded to the board either. So i can upgrade those components easily. Less than about 12 screws, in the worst configuration.

And when my keyboard dies fail. I can replace it for less than 50 dollars. 6 screws two tabs and a ribbon cable.

Because my windows machine does not have moisture sensors that flip when it is above 85 % humidity. My warranty stays intact for the intended length.

I purchased a small mansion with the difference in cost.

I do not miss my connectivity options either, as i have plenty of them.

Good luck stay safe.

Btw you can hide the taskbar if you want the apple "almost full-screen" feel (also practically required if you have an OLED screen, cause burnout). If you want to get rid of the absolute trash windows search system try "Everything" by voidtools, it searches everywhere, even hidden folders! Also if you want a neat mouse that works well with productivity software like the Office Suite, Resolve and DAWs try the Logitech MX Master 3. Oh and Malware-bytes is a great premium antivirus.

I switched to windows machines for the same power vs performance reasons, other than personally preferring windows file explorer and gaming. My personal desktop still beat MBPs that were 1000$ more expensive after 5 years, and my new XPS 15 blazes with an 8-core i9 that doesn't over-heat.

Bingo i got a lot of heat from apple fan boys because i stated similar arguments online, this is very consoling as it is articulate and funny and exactly what i'm feeling . Gonna make the change ....

This video-letter should became a kind of #MeToo movement of the tech world against Apple. So, I am, #MeToo, fed up with the programable obsolescence strategies of famous companies, such as Apple to name but a few. An iOS or MacOS or a hardware do not even lasts a couple, and we are bound and compelled upgrade and then obliged to buy new hardware.
We know, as consumers, that we can not say to technology progress. But not that fast! We are no more naif- for not saying stupid- to believe in your marketing catching slogans and messages nor are influenced by the “cool” image that would transmit those mercenary celebrities appearing in your commercials.
So, yeah, thanks you, man for this awesome and great video. Here is a well-deserves SUSCRIBE! And of course, with your permission, I will post it in all my social media and tech- forums.
Greeting from Morocco!

Wow! Yeah, but it’s windows. I just can’t use Windows since XP. Especially Pro Tools. I’m not going to learn another daw, though I have been playing with Harrison MixBus, which has its own sound but I haven’t been able to work with picture on anything else. I’m using a 2011 MBP but I haven’t had a need to video on it personally. I am using DaVinci (thanks to you) and it was working fine on my former work machine which was a 2015 or 16 MBP. But Windows is clunky AF.
