Is SoundSwitch still the best DJ DMX software for 2024? - A SoundSwitch Review

In this video, I give my unbiased opinion on the pros and cons of soundswitch and why I think it's the best DJ software in the wedding and mobile DJ industry.

I created a video in 2020 and this is an update to that, since SoundSwitch has evolved and so has my experience with it.

I've been asked many SoundSwitch questions over the past couple of years, and this will be the first in my series of Soundswitch related content.

I really enjoy sound switch for the same reason as you. I can DJ and not worry about doing lighting. I would love the feature to set where in a tract the chorus, break down, middle 8 etc before running an auto script as quite often sound switch misses them. This would massively improve auto scripting for me.

yes my friend I fully agree with you about the limitations/quirks of manual scripting. They need more improvement there, like combining autoloops with manual scripting, saving custom chases, copy-paste across different tracks, less vertical scrolling madness, more pixel-optimized generators, option to disable moving heads GUI (I only use pixel LEDs), better stability, etc....

I appreciate the video and the information. I have been doing research and I'm stuck between Soundswitch and Wolfmix. I can't find a video that compares them or even Dj Airstream DMX Bridge.

Daryl, aside from the pain of using a win machine for visualization, I really want them to add 32-64 step statics. I don’t like eating up auto slots for simple static scenes. In static you can’t create slow fades and gentle movements to create feeling. This is easy in SX. As you said, sometimes trading one deficiency for a time savings. Good work as always.

Well ya know now you're the SS expert😆 so you are gonna have lots of questions like this one; "I'm new to SS and can't seem to get the software on the laptop?" Download starts, finishes and a Microsoft store Window opens and a I get a spinning curser. Then when I click on the download again I get Microsoft store asking how do I want to open this file, ?

A) Can you show us what would be a best way to save/back up our work from Soundswitch on an external device ? If I lose my laptop, all the work we'll be gone...
B) Also, when we save, what is the difference between SAVE PROJECT and SAVE LIGHT SHOW?
C) From an actual saved project, can we use the same lightshow for another wav file? For exemple. If i modify my original wav file, but keep the same title, the light show or project doesn't work together and I lost all my soundswitch work. Brief, Is there a way to change a wav file in a soundswitch project keeping the same work (lightshow) we saved? Tks for your great work Daryl!

I chose wolfmix for its simplicity. I just cant figure out sound switch even with all it’s youtube videos. I also come from mydmxgo background so the transition made it easy to figure out. Matter of fact my sound switch is still in the box and thinking of selling it. My rig is kinda simple as far as uplights moving heads and maybe a wash or two.

Twos questions:
Is it possible to use SoundSwitch as a music player at an event
playing one after another in a playlist where songs are played end to end (no mix necessary)


Is it possible to trigger the autoloops by Virtual DJ using OS2L commands inserted in the music?

I've been struggling for about 12 hours to get Soundswitch to work for me. I can't get the lights to do anything when I play a song in VDJ. The VDJ icon is lit up so it connected. In edit mode I can manually press a color on my Control One and my lights respond perfectly, but in performance mode, I can't get anything to work. So frustrating.

Sound switch is INSANE value with Denon products. Cheap $40 dongle and a cheap lighting device from china and I already have something that looks great for barely any cost.

My serato and soundswitch failed to communicate. I think I did all the parameters right, selecting serato on soundswitch and getting a link in serato, but when I play, the lights don’t respond. I’m using the Chauvet gig bar move +ILS
