Give the Genesis line 10 years and re do this test, I bet Genesis starts taking all the awards like Acura/Lexus did in the 90s! Hyundai isn't playing around anymore, they are getting better in leaps and bounds.

That Cadillac surprisingly looks like something a younger person would choose, the genesis looked designed for an old man. The cadi just looks so sexy, sleek, inside and out so contemporary.

Actually drove both.... I really enjoy how the genesis takes care of the buyer. When I drove the ct6 it honestly feels like you are driving something special an once you leave the lot the excitement there is over. Hyundai still feels like a Hyundai. It's is very smooth ride. Overall I clearly went with the caddy. Every time I walk away from my car I always look back and go wow... that's mine :)

The truth be told, most people buying in this segment ARE "brand snobs". Despite how good you feel the Genesis is over the Cadillac, it's still a Hyundai and the Cadillac IS a Cadillac. I know people that own Equisses and they all seem to feel an obligation to explain why they bought them. I also know Cadillac owners(myself included) and none feel that way. If Hyundai really was serious about marketing these cars to an upscale clientele they would have put them in separate buildings from the cheaper Hyundai as Toyota did with Lexus. An upscale customer doesn't want to shop in a showroom with signs covering the windows that say "$99 per month" or "We finance everyone"!

I don't think these two cars should be compared. Caddy is trying to make people forget about the floaty ride they were known for in the 60s, 70s & 80s. For that, GM wants you to go for a Buick. Caddy wants the 5 series and E Class market (which in part is why the CTS is being phased out). Genesis, on the other hand, wants to be the LS460, S Class and 7 series alternative. As a driver, I'd prefer the Caddy. But if I had a long daily commute, I'd rather be pampered by the Genesis.

I wish you had said who the winner is. it's almost like you're afraid to say the winner is categorically the Genesis. it's a great car.

I can't believe that we live in a world where a "Hyundai" can be compared to a Cadillac or any other block buster luxury brand. I feel that this review is quite biased. I would take the CT6 any day over the Genesis!

This seemed like a bias review, she failed to mention the stats for these cars are not actually close however she said they are similar on paper that's a lie. she complained about the Cadillac not being cohesive enough but excuses the Genesis for being a much less performance orientated vehicle. This is the first car review that I have ever seen that forgives performance during a direct head to head comparison, it's a pretty big deal. They both have beautiful interiors but rear seat monitors are a huge advantage Cadillac has over the Genesis. That brand whore comment at the end actually says more about her bias than anything else.

Sounds like you're biased. Why bother doing a report. I've driven both. I'd choose the Cadillac overall. Different strokes for different folks.

the cadi looks a whole lot better than the Genesis

Caddy looks more modern and fresh, they're also trying to establish more chassis and handling dynamics into the vehicle vs being all floaty and cushy. Genesis looks like a mix between a G37 and Sonata in the front end, nothing really new and the lines don't really catch your eye.

Looking at the distant shots of the cars approaching, the cadillac has a unique vertical DRL, kinda like what Audi did with the R8 back in the day. The G90 could be confused with a Sonata....for something at this price point, it needs to be more unique styling wise.

The G90 is a hell of a car, but that CT6 just fits my style that much more. I think it really comes down to fits your lifestyle better. Also it didn't really surprise me much that the Korean doing this head to head would probably like the korean-made car that much more.

I totally agree with this review! The G90 excells in areas of luxury where the CT6 falls short! Such as having a smoother, more refined ride and more qualitative interior!

I purchased a Genesis after driving a fully loaded 5-series (every option possible) for a year. I am a huge car snob and I know I bother a lot of people because I know all of the facts and I've driven or owned one of every car of most segments. My Genesis still makes me smile every time I get in it. Mulholland twisty roads to long straights in the desert, I never feel that I have compromised. The HP number is average but the everyday usability ties together perfectly. After one year all of the buttons and seats show very little wear. Some cars never feel new again even after a few weeks. Genesis nailed it. I would never compare a G90 to an S-Class. Never. They are two totally different animals and the S-Class in my opinion is a canon at a boxing match in any price point. All said, if a G90 showed up without badges next to rest of the luxury cars we have, we would all be thinking it was a concept car from a known manufacturer.

The Genesis is an amazing, luxurious car for sure but when you are spending this much money the brand alone has to be taken into account. The "Emblem" is very important to most people looking for a car in this segment. i think people that are going to buy the genesis are people that want all the luxury that you can get from other brands for a much lower sticker price. To put it this way, the smart shopper is going to buy this.

I would take that Caddy all day everyday.

I had a 2001 Dts and now own a 2012 Genesis 3.8 Sedan and I must say the novelty of the Genesis wore off pretty quickly, but my Caddi every time I drove it I was in love all over again. Then again the interior was more luxurious then the Genesis and the ride was amazing because of the air shocks.

In my opinion, both these cars don't look really good but having the choice, Cadillac it would be, simply because Cadillac has identified themself to a unique style and i like it. But genesis has simply taken designs from other car brands and put them together. The genesis has no identification.

Here's the problem with your review, the cars aren't similarly equipped and you used tech as a major distinguishing point. Caddy lets you get into the brand for less, but you can add the features you were praising in the Genesis. At that point, the cars cost the same, have the same amenities, but the caddy has more hp and torque. Essentially, Caddy gives buyers more flexibility. Terrible comparison done by an amateur.
