I just bought this from amazon, sadly my first one was very chipped up, but they sent a free replacement. Sadly this didn’t release in the old packaging with the book, so it looks a bit odd compared to the other three I have, but I might trade them in for the newer packaging of the other three as well. Great review!

James is painted differently because unlike the others, his standard trackmaster shell only uses one molded piece, where the others use two separately molded pieces (footplate+body) molded in two separate colours, since the colours of their bodies differ from the colour of the footplate (red). I suspect that it would've been easier to just paint the whole red piece with the metallic coat rather create a new james tool that consisted of two pieces with the body painted in metallic and the footplate left in its natural plastic colour...

I bet they made Jame's frame not a separate piece because the rest of his body is red. It's a shame so much of the paint job is unfinished. also at 5:51, his black lining isn't on right too. No wonder Mattel is losing money. They can't produce a neatly finished product that is made in batches of nearly a million
