Boss Elite BV800ACP w/ Apple CarPlay Android Auto for VW Jetta Mk6

Taking steps to modernize the Mk6 in an OEM+ way. My first move was to upgrade to this Boss Elite multimedia head unit. It has CarPlay and all it’s goodness, along with reliable Bluetooth and microphone to completely bypass the sketchy VW Bluetooth module

My daughter also has a Jetta MK6 and she asked me to fit her a Headunit with CarPlay and a rear view camera. I ordered the same set from Crutchfield + a backup camera. A little search on Google and I found your video with the same car, the same unit and the same installation kit! Thank you!

Hey thanks for doing a clear video. Sucks you didn't pick up on the accessory/ACC wire sooner but good workaround. I'm looking at an MK6 unit. The audio quality with whatever stock unit I have is actually quite good (to me) so I'm mainly in it for the carplay/android auto (for maps/spotify). I like the RCD330 OEM look and available physical buttons but there are just too many negative reviews about audio quality with those. Have you done another video about living with the unit? How do you find controlling things while driving and how is the audio?

I just did this and upgrade my hvac controls to the climatronic panel which looks and have better options.

amazing video! does the boss elite audio systems animation play every time you start up the car or was that only for the first time?

I really like the Boss unit. Is it missing some audio DSP functions of the big brands? Sure. But I find that the UI performance and "just works" nature of their head units is a huge win. Apple carplay wireless connection, handsfree phonecall audio quality, etc is just fantastic on their cheap unit. A boss head unit + cheap external DSP to dial things in is a win in my book.

A lot of cars have power running through some unlikely paths. Deal with it and don’t skimp! Also, VW can’t even tell you their fuse box layout - their own techs have to sort it out themselves.

Hey! Awesome video. About to buy the parts direct from Crutchfield to install in my MKVI TDI JSW. I will be using it primarily for navigation & music through Spotify.

How is it working out, now that it's been more than a year?
Can you change the color of the touch buttons along the bezel (i.e. volume up/down)?
As for voice commands, do you know if it's possible to use the button on the steering wheel to activate siri/google assistant?

Hey man I have the same issue, could walk me through what wires you used and connectors you used for your fuse and radio?

Not Crutchfield fault this vws do not have accessory at radio always have to fuse. Unless you get the harness that’s like $120 bucks

I got everything installed but get no sound from the unit powers on, but no sound. I tried connecting the amp wire in case the car has a factory amp but still no good.

Unfortunately but a RCD360 way better and it doesnt require any modifications or can bus adapters. Plug and play. There is also a Dicover/Composition Media for PQ35.
