Married for 36 yrs. and very much agree. We must be able to look up and respect that man. Yes, act like a man, however, a very important aspect of a healthy relationship is that, the woman you get must have good self confidence. As a wife and mother the most important advice I could give any men is that, get a woman who loves and respects herself, comes from a good family with values. Only a person with confidence will be a good partner, will stand by you, support you and cherish you.
If you get a good woman to be your partner, you'll soar. She'll nourish you, take care of you and yes she'll get pleasure out of this. A woman with low self esteem will pull you down, drain you and you'll feel that, you are never enough!. This can not be fixed, as this comes from early childhood, and very hard to fix
(lots of therapy?...and even then, maybe?). Man, do yourself a favor: find a woman who'll love you, cherish you and appreciate you, from the beginning. How to spot a confident intelligent woman? Well, that's easy, and it's not what you think. Women fake confidence so eloquently and maybe even for years. But don't be fooled! Listen to them, and listen very carefully.
Watch how they talk about other people, their friends for example. Bring up her best girlfriend and compliment on her how nice she is, or smart or whatever your observation is. Then WATCH, and LISTEN how she responds. If she continues with the positive remarks and her face glows that you've noticed those qualities, she is a keeper. If she starts to contradict those remarks and will start putting her down, she is not confident in herself. Use the same method for parents, relatives, your friends. What is her impression? Did she spot positive or negative traits FIRST? Low self-esteem people will always try to put other people down, so they can elevate themselves, because inside and deep down, they feel miserable. Sorry for this long comment, but I hope it does make sense to somebody.
...and finally this: only a person who loves and respect her/himself is able to give love to another human being. This is a no-brainer. You can only give, what you have. ...and a last note: people who lack self-confidence, though they stumble through life (never experiencing true happiness), if they are also in the lower, or average IQ and EQ group of people, they will become jealous, envious and vicious when stay away from these women. The above than average intelligent women though, even with lower self esteem will stay nice and humble and might be, or become a wonderful wife and mother, but will give you challenges. Men, don't kid yourself! Everything you'll experience later, was there on the very first date, or at the beginning of the relationship. Listen to your brain not to your you know what...ha..ha....And last: are YOU confident? Are YOUR affairs, emotions are in order? Well, fix EVERYTHING before you try to attract the perfect woman. Would YOU want to be that burden to a wonderful woman?
Sadly, there are way to many unhappy people in this world, who want to fix their troubles through or with the right relationship. It's not gonna happen. Every woman and man should enter a relationship loving and respecting themselves first, and then the "how to make her never want to leave you", or for that matter, the "how to make him never want to leave you" happens naturally and without effort.
