Very nice video. Not rushed. I'm an old guy, 71 and counting. I'm not an owner, yet. But I'm hoping to find a daily driver to enjoy soon. I've subscribed and will make good use of your videos if I can find a good car at a decent price. Thank you for helping.

Thanks for the information and humor! lol I'm going to look at a 2003 VW Beetle tomorrow and was pretty nervous about it, but I wrote down a list while watching your video and feel more confident. I am a guppy (what my family calls naïve/honest and thinking others will try to be the same) but definitely picked up pointers for checking stability of a VW Beetle and in asking pointed questions of the person selling the VW Beetle. Thanks again! :)

Yep always important to check them. As a mechanic I know a good amount as to what too look for. I know the air cooled VW mechanic in town too he said most of the same stuff you did. Mine is solid it has a spot of rust on the door under the window but that’s it so I spray it with WD40 before it rains and it hasn’t spread any so that’s good.

HeyDude, just checked out your video, and thanks for the tip, I’m looking at a super beetle 1971. Seems like it’s in pretty good condition. Needs a little front alignment . Other than that, can’t wait to be a part of that community. Again, thanks for your tips.

Good content and advice, most of the other videos are worthless they dont actually get under the car like you did and tell you specific areas to check. Thanks

I saw this video after buying my 71 Super but, I still will check these items even after I am the owner because I want to know the state of things to better estimate my expenditures to come. It was very late when I saw this but still ran out to the garage with my refrigerator magnet..good news no rust or condo in the rear quarter panels. I did find the luggage shelf had been repaired with a welded in piece of steel. Thank you again.

Great tips I've been around VW's for 40 + years and picked up a couple of. Areas to check, Thanks!

Awesome tips, also a common place to look for corrosion is below the brake fluid reservoir, spillage is common, my beetle had a little rot between the door hinge and fender where the fluid seeped in. I recently watched the engine rebuild videos you posted it was very helpful, my engine had an oil leak so I pulled the engine out replaced the gaskets and seals and while I was at it replaced the clutch as well. I was wondering if you could do a video on carburetor tuning and engine timing especially with the different pulley notches, much appreciated.

Really helpfull... im looking to buy my first beetle... tought i had a good one in sight freshly painted but the owner's telling me that its rust free and i can see some rust holes in the rear inner fender in the guys picture of the engine bay... his lack of honesty kinda scares me and made me not even want to go see it any more. I know ill have trouble resisting if i get there... been on that road too many times 😂

Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video. I am looking at a 1979 Super Beetle Convertible/Silver/Black, 16k miles. I will see it later this month and you gave me great tips on what to look for. Happy New Year!

I'm looking at a 64 tomorrow. It seems solid but this video points out a lot of places I need to look closer at! Thanks for all the good info.
