I've seen this option appear on some Amazon orders but not all. I think the point here is also it allows customers to cut back all the extra cardboard boxes. They can accumulate rather quickly if you order a lot from Amazon. Depending on the item, retail packaging alone might be just find.

This would have been exceptionally useful information for my roommate to have. Nothing is more traumatizing than reaching into the mailbox to grab a thin plastic shipping bag and immediately feeling the finite details of the buttplug contained within.

In most cases this option isn’t for things likely to get stolen, or interest your neighbors. Think kitty litter or laundry detergent. It’s often things that don’t fit easily into standard boxes. If you could see the mountains of cardboard boxes and packing materials inside an Amazon fulfillment center, you would see exactly why this is a great option to have.

My son ordered a new hard drive for a computer he was building for his dad, and that’s exactly what happened. The worst part is that we have a really long steep driveway, so the delivery guy left the hard drive on the snow, at the bottom of our driveway. Anyone could’ve picked it up. So this tip will definitely be utilized for us in the future. I couldn’t figure out why it arrived without proper packaging. Just a label stuck onto the regular box.
