actually this is one of the very few moments i agree with don, everyone seems to think this was an accident, but if youve ever played hockey and you skate towards another player you know how easy it is to avoid him, but he had no intention to do that so ya he was intended to hurt him...

Just read an article where Cherry was interviewed and he made the point I made from the getgo. My Capital fans buddy kept saying oh it was an accident he was clumsy. My point was this, if he it was an accident and he was just clumsy, human nature is to at least look back and say what the heck happened. I'm not saying he meant to give him a concussion or injure him but to say he was totally innocent and tried to avoid him is ridiculous too. He meant to hit him, its unfortunate he got hurt.

This wasn't a head shot, it was a collision. This is just like the Shanahan-Knuble collision but only Crosby got the worst of this one. Steckel didn't see Crosby until just before the moment he hit him because he tried to get out of the way but it was too late.

@ParmaChick The NHL didn't notice an "obvious cheap shot blindside hit on Crosby" either.. If they had noticed an "obvious cheap shot blindside hit on Crosby" they surely would have suspended Steckel for multiple games. He wasn't suspended because they deemed it an accidental hit. And yes, I agree it was "instructive that Steckel wasn't penalized any minutes". That, and the fact that he wasn't suspended, speaks volumes in support of my point. Thanks for pointing that out.

I did not like how Crosby whined a lot after clean hits, but you never wish something that is a serious injury on somebody. A bunch of you guys should really grow up.

He seen a chance to take out the best player in the league and took it..he did a hell of a job hiding the intentional hit..if Steckel was Matt Cooke he would have suspended for 10 games and fined for that hit NO QUESTION!

Honestly kids, faking it? before you say that steckel didnt mean to hit him heres a little stat for you, David Steckel stands at 6'5, Sidney Crosby stands at 5'11, good luck making contact with someones head when they stand 7 inch's shorter, unless you do as steckel does, and drop the shoulder, then throw your right arm out to fully extend the shoulder.. there was intent to hit there, stop crying because the name on the jersey is crosby, dirty hit, from a non-dirty player
