One practice that has really benefited me is doing a post-hike review after every backpacking trip. The military calls this an after action report. I still do this even after decades of backpacking. I simply write some notes on what worked well, what didn’t, what I took that wasn’t used or needed (of course some things, like first aid kit, you hope not to need), and what I could have used that I didn’t take. This practice has enabled me to greatly refine my packing list, clothing selection, food choices, etc.

Mr. Linsdau, can you talk on single wall tents? I’m deciding if I should invest in one, and which one.

After watching your video & taking some notes, I read all the replies B4 composing the following:
#1 - Checklist, a written down Checklist, one that you actually use & check off B4 each camping would have emphasized the critical importance of a checklist that actually gets used & the items on it checked off B4 each outdoor adventure, whether it be a day hike or a multi day/night adventure.
#2 - Tents/Rain Gear - drench your new tent in your backyard AFTER setting it up to see if it leaks.
Same principle/concept goes for newly purchased rain gear. Put it on, stand under a shower in the bathtub as a test to see if it's really going to keep you dry.
BIG MISTAKE to believe your new tent & or rain gear is perfect because it is new & that it will NOT Leak.
#3 - Carry toilet paper inside a ziplok baggie & carry it in one of your pant pockets so you have it with you, not inside your backpack. When you've gotta GO, you've gotta GO!
#4 - Always remember your #1 objective/goal of any outdoor adventure is to return to the trailhead under your own power. Any other objective/goal is infinitesimally inconsequential.
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada U.S.A.

Hi sir. do you know where I can get all the information I need to avoid dangers of wilderness while camping alone? I think camping alone in the jungle or savannah is not an esay thing to do

So in other words you need a heck of a lot more than a tent, a sleeping bag, and some food.😎
