From "Propaganda" Released in November 1974
Lyrics: (Ron & Russel Mael)
Just keep right on walking
Just keep right on walking

Dont dilly-dally, come right home
I dont see why I must go home
When in the streets the niceties
Come pouring out and over me
Its three oclock and here they come
So many that my eyes are numb
Familiar faces each and all
But I've been ordered not to stall
Thanks but no thanks, anywa
I know that youre all OK, but
My orders come from high above me
About a foot or two above me

The merry band of "How are yous"

In tweedy suits and pointy shoes
They offer me a ride in style
And something sweet to make me smile
I hate to hurt their feelings so
But Im supposed to tell them no
My parents say the world is cruel
I think that they prefer it cruel
Thanks but no thanks, anyway
I know that youre all OK, but
My orders come from high above me
About a foot or two above me
Just keep right on walking
Just keep right on walking
Just keep right on walking
Just keep right on walking

Thanks but no thanks, anyway
I know that youre all OK, but
My orders come from high above me
About a foot or two above me
Thanks but no thanks anyway
Thanks but no thanks anyway
Thanks but no thanks anyway, anyway, anyway

One of my favorite Sparks melodies...was pleased to hear it "la la"-sung in the new film "Annette." And the lead guitar reminds me of Phil Manzanera.

THIS song of ALL Sparks tunes makes me SO melancholy and nostalgic for when I heard them around age 11 or so listening to this awesome album in my cousin Mike's room looking out from their flat across a football field in Liverpool. God they were the best days of my life, I miss you Mike RIP and all the others now departed. :(

Definitely one of Sparks' best songs. Brilliant on every level.

This is one tremendous song from an absolutely brilliant LP. I realise that (for us oldies!) "Kimono" is probably more highly regarded, but I truly believe that this was their pinnacle.

A favorite track from probably my favorite album by anybody, of all-time. Definitely my #1 deserted-island disc (haha hafta have a Professor-made Gilligan's Island record-player there, of course...). I discovered Sparks in 1975 performing "Looks, Looks, Looks" on tv-show Supersonic...went to record-shop and found Propaganda and instantly fell in love. Some friendz tho' would leave the room when I'd play Sparks, hahaha.
