BASIC TRAINING for new editors!

Hope you guys enjoy this tutorial. I use this effect quite a bit actually and I find it very effective. It's quite a complicated effect, so I recommend you use it only when you have at least a few seconds to work with inside the scope. You don't want it to go by too quickly.

So I want to use this effect on an a enemy through smoke, so I made a mask of an enemy, then made it 3D and pushed it back into the area where the smoke was. When I try and do the scan line, I can't make the mask move on a path. Any clue why?

dude wtf am i doing wrong when i duplicate the red solid with the marker on the second frame, the original red solid is deleted from frame #2 onward and the white takes over the last frames!!
HELP!!! :(
