The most iconic MCU films wouldn’t be what they are without the incredible performances and Marvel’s stellar casting decisions.
Can you imagine anyone other than Robert Downey Junior playing Iron Man? He practically IS Tony Stark, but his name was just one on the list of actors Marvel considered for the role. The success of the entire MCU is thanks in part to that phenomenal casting choice. The best Marvel actors do more than play a role, they elevate the character in ways that make it impossible to imagine anyone else playing that part. With the arrival of the Loki release date it makes you think: would we even have this series if Tom Hiddleston hadn’t been cast for that role? Not only is he an Executive Producer for Loki, he raised the character to such heights of popularity that the MCU literally couldn’t get rid of him, and he had initially auditioned for the role of Thor!
There are plenty of cases of names being pitched on short lists or actors showing up for auditions that were passed over only to be cast for an entirely different role later on down the line--or even in the same movie! Marvel’s casting seems as close to perfect as one can get, and the best Marvel actors seem like they were born for their role.
