here we are again, analyzing this year's music offerings in anticipation of the 2025 grammy awards. I am honestly already bored and tired of this conversation because all it does is encourage fanbases to attack each other...but alas...I'm a music critic so...here I am!!! this is my take on how many of this year's biggest records: cowboy carter by beyonce, short n sweet by sabrina carpenter, eternal sunshine by ariana grande, brat by charli xcx, the tortured poets department by taylor swift, hit me hard and soft by billie eilish, the rise and fall of a midwest princess by Chappell roan and SO MUCH MORE. keep it cute in the comments and hbd to me lol x

Rise and Fall absolutely deserves AOTY, it’s the only one that’s been steady on the charts and the convo, a year long hit. Not just a few months of hype.

I really, truly respect how objective you are in your commentary and criticism (even for your faves). I’m not a swiftie at all but I really do appreciate your takes on pop culture events/moments/issues and really do hope you continue to bring this level of objectivity in your analysis in the future!!!

100% agree about Eternal Sunshine. Was so shocked at the album and had it on repeat for 2/3 months exclusively.

the chappell commentary is so on point. i think her fame was a mixture of the song writing, along with the theatrics and fun performances really boosted her this year. it’s organic, almost shocking growth.

tortured poets was something that took me months to comprehend (and i’m still comprehending). but now that i understand it so much more than when it first came out, i think it’s truly a masterpiece and i would definitely pick it for album of the year. but unfortunately the grammys aren’t gonna sit around trying to comprehend an album for months so i understand that it’s just not gonna win

i wish taylor can give back the AOTY from midnights just so they can crown it to TTPD this year... there should be an option like this lmao

We Can't Be Friends was my song of the year. The video, the emotions, the live performances...it made me cry

Glad that you remembered Kendrick with Not Like Us. He had his moment, the song is well written and everybody knows he's dissing Drake who has had his share of shade towards the Grammys in the past so maybe this could push Kendrick towards a win lol

If Good Luck, Babe! manages to win something I hope it's Record of the Year because Pop Solo would only recognize Chappell for her performance and Dan Nigro DESERVES his flowers for this song. The production on that track is immaculate! ❤

great video, zach! just fyi zach bryan refused to submit his work for consideration this year “based on feeling that he does not feel comfortable with awards shows making music competitive”

When you said "Radical Optimism - in your dreams" i lost it, that were some of the best 3 minutes of my year, i haven´t laughed like that in a really long time. Like it´s true, obviously, but say it out loud just hit different. Thank you for saying that.

I hope Chappell wins the top 4 as well. When I first heard of her I thought she was hype but I listened to her album and it gave me LIFE. I am in awe of her talent. She most definitely deserves big wins at the grammys. It's been a long time since I've been so impacted by an artist. Pink pony club literally made me cry the first time I heard it. Her creative genius is worthy of so much recognition.

Charlie is doing a anti-grammy campaign as far as I'm concerned. Like, she needs to cross her fingers and pray to god that the academy hasn't heard Spring Breakers. Cause they won't nominate an album with a song describing how she is gonna set the grammy's carpet on fire cause she hates them so much.

I find the Grammy choices reveal more about industry structures than music. Something to give eachother is not going to get its flowers, but it never was. I keep coming back to that album. Whichever song I start on I end up letting it play through till the end of the album. It manages to have really different moods and yet be very cohesive. The videos were gorgeous and well thought out. My personal three favourites this year are Something to give eachother, TTPD and Fine Art. All of which I know I will be listening to for the next decade which is alot of music to add to your life in one year. I simply choose to be grateful.

I think the albums that I’m rooting for the most is the rise and west of a Midwest princess, eternal sunshine, short n sweet, and ttpd to an extent
