I think Kabr remembers himself being "alone" in the Vault of Glass because his fireteam was erased from existence by the Oracles/Templar or the Gorgons. He survived, but could not remember his friends because they were existentially, totally removed from history. That's why there's no records of Praedyth, too. He knows he could not have opened the Vault by himself, but in his memory he was the only one there.

I will never forget kabr because he made my favorite Titan helmet to date.

Kabr's fireteam was wiped from existence by the gorgons or oracles. So Kabr had no memory of them inside the vault. "No one can crack the vault alone. There was no one with me but I was not alone."

"No one can open the Vault alone. I opened the Vault. There was no one with me but I was not alone." - To me, this line indicates that the people who opened the Vault with Kabr were either negated by the Templar or the Gorgons. He knew you needed multiple people to open the Vault, that there /had/ to have been people with him for him to have gained access to the Vault, but he couldn't remember anyone being with him as the Vex deleted them from having ever existed in the first place.

After reading the grimoire cards, I have the sinking suspicion that Kabr and Atheon are one in the same. 

He tried to strengthen himself by augmenting his armor and weapons with Vex tech as per the item descriptions from the VoG raid armor and weapons, but Kabr was overcome by the Hive Minds.and became Atheon after the Hezen tech took over his mind and flesh.

(The stars will move around you and mark you and sing to you. They will decide if you are real. I drank of them. It tasted like the sea.")

Kabr created the Aegis to aid future guardians defeat what he would become.

("Bind yourself to the shield. Bind yourself to me. And if you abandon your purpose, let the Vault consume you, as it consumed me.  Now it is done. If I speak again, I am not Kabr.")

I can't honestly say that another game has ever made me more interested in its lore. I can't say exactly why destiny's lore is so great to me, but it just interests me more than any other

Very, very interesting. Would have been nice to see to see/hear more like this in the game itself. Would have been cool to have Kabr, Torland, etc. appear as NPCs leading you down class specific story lines. I raise my helmet to you, Sir Wallen, for a job well done.

I remember when this video came out. I was 14 and was on the destiny hype train with my friends. Even years later when i don’t actively play destiny anymore, I keep coming back to this video and others on the lore of the game. As crazy as it sounds but I remember first hearing you tell this story and the world of destiny kind of got a shroud of darkness. It wasn’t all killing fun and games in this universe. There were consequences and death, loneliness and those who met a fate worse than death. It was a scary reminder that we don’t all get the greatest roll of the dice in life but that if we are determined enough and love ourselves and each other, we truly can change our fate. Thank you Sir wallen for doing such a great job on this lore bit. Has as always will be one of my most favorite.

Kabr was our lost brother and fellow guardians even though he denied reality and lived in the vault for ever he still found away to make the light pour into the vault and forge the bane of the vex. The vex mythoclast

If only Bungie had this in the final game for an actual story so Thank you for this, Lore Seeker. Things I wanted to know about it seems so interesting listening to stories about these unknown but, now not so "unknown."

Interesting, I think what a lot of people don't realise is that the destiny backstory is much like dark souls in that a lot has to be assumed. While a lot of the things you've said here could be correct, I have completely different assumptions which also have the potential to be correct, and that's fine if you've spent any amount of time looking up the dark souls lore you'll know it's interesting to hear what other people draw from the given material and the same applies here. That you speak as if this is real gets on my nerves a bit, but it's part of the presentation, I get that, definitely subbing. 
Also, for everyone who requests topics like Osiris and the Nine, the Grimioire cards contain next to nothing on these characters from what I've read, so don't be too disappointed if the videos take a while
