Omega is good for anyone that knows CSS, or has a subtheme already made. I user Omega because all of my projects are custom design. As long as you can style things, then you can accomplish quite a bit with just Omega as a base theme.

The Omega theme is great as long as you know CSS. If you don't and want a configurable already designe theme, I might check Theme Forest.

I know what you mean. It jumped from fairly simple learning to very advanced technical editing.

Using Sass and Compass is optional. You can just edit the css files like normal.

Thanks for the tutorial, but I was wondering about what you suggest I do to get around the problem that I am working on windows and don't have codekit. I have tried installing prepros, however that doesn't seem to have the options to tie in compass to the project like you did through codekit?

for the lack of mac os i can't use codekit. so from this point on it's impossible to follow the tutorials for people who don't own a mac.

Nope. If you are just using css then everything you need is already there.

My default Omega subtheme looks totally different than yours. It has no pink grid and stuff.
