The Penguin is one of my all time favorite edc knives. Been carrying the D2/denim version about 4 years. Always carry a "fancy" knife in other pocket and sometimes a small fixie.

Properly heat treated D2 is going to perform better. Although 14c is easier to maintain and takes a wicked sharp edge. I usually go for D2 for the edge retention.

14c over D2 is no question but 154cm for mild price bump is always nice option. And with something else than FRN ...

Sad to see how they missing the clue, the Dolpin was a unique take on a blade especially in the current knife market. I think there is a great potential, and there should be more variation in that direction.

I'm comfortable with 14c or D2, either way is fine. It looks a little bit like the handle is a bit longer for the crossbar lock Penguin. I'd *love* it if that was true. That's the only drawback to my trusty old D2 linerlock model. Just a bit too short of a handle for my big hands.

The only crossbar lock with a flipper I thought of is the Benchmade 300. It's a terrible flipper and weighs about 4 pounds. I only bought it for the collection when it came out.
