I have the Tormek sharpening system and it is a fantastic piece of kit. The sharpening shown in this video missed the step where the stone is re-graded from 250 to 1000 grit before the chisel is presented to the honing wheel using the holder. This ensure the grind is perfect and the edge is genuinely razor sharp

i just stopped here to confirm that the tormek is truly excellent. had a t7 for two years. hunting knives, kitchen knives, woodworking handtools and jointer knives sharpened perfectly. its expensive but if you have a need this thing is perfect at what it does.

I was dreaming about Tormec for few years by now. Unfortunately I need to sharpen only 3-5 tools a year, so it is not profitable for me to buy one. But one day if God will bless, I am going to get one of those.

By the way what is the tool on your right on middle shelf second that looks like pliers? I recently cleaned up garage and found one but had no Idea what it is.

Yes that is quite the trick sharpening machine. Thanks for showing it Colin. one question can you square up a chisel using the lee valley sharpening gig or is it design just for sharpening a sharp edge.

Good demo as always Colin.  It's good to have friends with $700 sharpeners!  I use a Worksharp WS3000.  It works great.  No water and best of all no mess at 1/3rd the price and extremely easy to use.  The Tormek is awesome nonetheless, especially for sharpening turning tools.

That's a nice machine, but expensive I have a worksharp 1000 I picked up for under $100 and it does a pretty good job if you take your time. Thanks for the video Colin good info again.

interesting tool...what ever happened to the bench grinder and a good wet stone..and squaring your chiesels by hand and a square... no fixtures just your eye and hands.LOL old school works for me...
